I had a rare emergency health issue that could have led to death had I not dealt with. From the emergency room staff to the ICU staff, I never felt I was in better hands in my entire life of almost 50 years. Not what I expected given outside of United States and with a bit of a language barrier, who would have guessed that the small island of Male would have such incredible, attentive, and quality care! From easing my stress to ensuring I was thoroughly evaluated and treated expeditiously, the doctors and nurses did everything they could to get me well enough to be able to get back to my resort for one more day to swim in the ocean and view the beautiful Maldivian sunset before I left the following day. Even the billing representative ensured coordination with my insurance company, taxi driver, and the doctors so I could get out ASAP and made payment super easy. Everyone and everything worked like a perfect harmonious symphony in getting me back to health and on my way back to my vacation. I believe the U.S. could learn a lot from how this hospital and it's staff treat their patients. The hospital itself was beautiful and elegant, not at all looking like a typical hospital with it's marble walls and modern fixtures, as well as being very clean. I was truly impressed all around. A very special thanks to the nursing staff from the emergency and ICU. Immediately they made me feel calm and at ease, provided rapid response with dignity, cared for my every need diligently, and truly showed a genuine care. Thank you ALL SO SO MUCH for everything. I attribute them to saving my life and I'm actually healthier than I've been in years less than a month later. I only hope they all get in return the same love, kindness, and care they gave to me in their lives--what they do is invaluable. If you're thinking of travelling to the Maldives, rest assured that should you encounter any medical needs, your are in excellent hands and they will do everything possible to get you to health and back to your vacation.
