Tree Top Hospital (TTH) has launched Thalassemia packages. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder that causes your body to have less hemoglobin than normal. It is considered the most common genetic disorder in the Maldives.

The following packages will be available to guests as part of TTH's Thalassemia package. The packages can be selected by the guest based on their specific needs.

1.    1. Thalassemia Screening Package

The Thalassemia Screening Package is curated for guests who want to get an initial diagnosis.

This prior screening will assist to find out whether you carry the gene for sickle cell and or thalassemia. It is important to get tested when you are planning for a family, or during pregnancy.

2.    2. Thalassemia Check-up Package

The Thalassemia check-up package is for guests who are diagnosed with thalassemia and would like to get a health check-up and create a care plan and management of thalassemia better.

In addition to the aforementioned Thalassemia Screening Package and Thalassemia Check Up Package; for guests who are diagnosed with this condition, the treatment of Iron Chelation Therapy is also available as an additional service. Iron chelation involves the removal of excess iron from your body which will be ordered by the consultant post-consultation.

As Thalassemia is inherited, it is important to screen and understand the extent of the disease and determine the severity of the condition.
