Seven Years of Nursing in Tree Top Hospital
As the Nursing Director at Tree Top, I
have the privilege of leading the multinational team of considerate and
committed nurses. This is a tremendous privilege, alongside which has been
working in the Maldives and getting to know the kind and generous Maldivian
people.
In introducing the nursing at Tree Top
Hospital over the last seven years, it has been challenging for a number of
reasons, not the least of which was the COVID pandemic. Tree Top Hospital had
just begun to establish itself when COVID hit. It was a world-shattering event
as we all know, which had a tremendous impact from which it took a few years
for the nursing team to recover and regenerate.
Nursing is a wonderful profession,
never easy, characterized by resilience on many levels, both professional and
personal. We are now moving in the
direction in which we need to go, in order to be of service to the Maldivian
people and to do them justice in their health journey. The health experience of
one person, is the journey of a family and ultimately the community.
I will now let the nurses of Tree Top
Hospital speak for themselves as they describe the impact of nursing and the
progress that has been made.
Being one of the pioneers in Tree Top
Hospital, I have witnessed how the management have persevered and worked hard,
especially during the most challenging times to keep the hospital running, and
to live up their vision which to be of service to the people of Maldives. In
those years (during COVID), they never gave up and now we celebrate our 7th year
anniversary. I will be forever grateful to for the great experience and
opportunity that has been given to me to be a part of the organization.”
Pablito.
Critical Care Manager. 7 years.
Having worked at TTH for a significant
period, my overall perception is that it has been characterized by a deep understanding from
the organization. I have built strong relationships with colleagues, there is a
sense of loyalty, and potentially a desire for more challenging roles and
opportunities. This is alongside a strong sense of being valued and recognized
as I have made contributions along the way. Sajin. Registered Nurse, Emergency
Room. 7yrs & 4 months.
My journey at Treetop Hospital began
four months before its official opening, when I joined as part of the founding
team. Despite the challenges of setting up wards and the impact of COVID, we
persevered and rose above the obstacles. Over the past seven years, Treetop
Hospital has provided me with incredible opportunities for growth, allowing me
to progress from a Registered Nurse to Charge Nurse, and now to Head Nurse. As
time has passed, my experience and dedication have only strengthened, and I am
grateful for the opportunities that have shaped my career here at
Treetop."
Alex. Head
Nurse. Ward 5. 7 years ..
As I completed my work today, I
glanced around the hospital and felt a wave of…... well, a mixture of pride and
nostalgia. I cannot believe how much this place has changed since I first
arrived (October 2017). I remember when we first opened. Just a small team,
fewer patients, and a mountain of uncertainty. We were pioneers, really.
I have had the opportunity to learn
and grow alongside Tree Top. I remembered, I had worked in the ward at the time
of the staff shortage as an assigned nurse for more than 10 patients in a
shift, including medical, surgical, gynae and pediatric patients. Even though I had only had experience in Cath
Lab, I overcame this challenge and provided good quality nursing care to all patients.
I supported TTH in taking care of COVID patients during its peak time and
worked as a Duty Manager as well.
Looking ahead, I am excited about the
future of our hospital. The technology continues to advance, and we are always
striving to improve patient outcomes, there is a constant drive to learn, adapt
and innovate, I am proud to be part of it.”

person, son and brother to my family.”

“It is incredible how fast time has
flown by! It only feels like yesterday that I first set foot in TTH. As an
expatriate, it was not a bed of roses working far away from my loved ones. TTH
gave me the opportunity to meet friends that become family, and colleagues who
are professional and dependable. Apart
from this, the institution has given me professional development opportunity
where I transitioned from being a Staff Nurse to Head Nurse.”

“Establishing a new health care
service, Treetop hospital was huge opportunity to experience working with
professionals from diverse backgrounds. Even though it is 7 years since the
opening there are challenges of service, meeting the needs of clients, managing
the best use of the assets and keeping our stock of consumables. All this
requires thoughtful planning and financial preparation.”

not had any direct experience in OPD before,
